Liberation of New Oxford/WWII Encampment at Eisenhower Farm
Calling All Able Bodied Men!
The National Park Service will once again be sponsoring a World War II living history weekend at the Eisenhower National Historic Site with authentic recreations of Allied and German army camps, complete with original World War II vehicles. Several hundred living history enthusiasts from over forty organizations are expected to attend and portray military personnel from the 1944 European Theater of Operations.
Author Don Markle and retired National Security Agency employee, Rick Henderson, will be on hand to demonstrate a captured German Enigma Code Machine on both Saturday and Sunday.
As in previous years, a World War II style "USO" dance will be held at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The dance will feature 1940s music presented by the Gettysburg Big Band. The dance is open to the public. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.00 and there will be a cash bar.
And if all that wasn't enough, the New Oxford Area Historical Society will be hosting a WWII reenactment around the town's center square from 8AM - 11 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
New Oxford will be transformed into a small French village occupied by the Germans during WWII. A battle will ensue when the Allied convoy arrives to liberate the town and capture the Germans. The battle event will conclude with a ceremony honoring WWII veterans who are from the local and surrounding area.
There will be a German encampment set up at the train station and an Allied encampment set up at Borough Hall. The encampments will include period vehicles that will be used during the battle.
The Eisenhower Farm encampment will open to the public:
Saturday - 9AM to 4:30PM
Sunday - 9AM to 4PM
Saturday - 9AM to 4:30PM

The convoy is rolling and we are asking for maximum participation for this event!
