WWII IV Infantry Division MP

The 4th Infantry Division's official nickname is "Ivy". Because of its Roman numeral designation, IV, people began calling the division "I-V" or "Ivy". To symbolize the name, four ivy leaves were crossed to produce the division's shoulder patch. Ivy leaves symbolize tenacity and fidelity which is the basis of the division's motto: "Steadfast and Loyal."

Military Police were given duties that put them in harms way, often times above and beyond their infantry brothers. When under fire, others found a foxhole, but MP had to stand at the post.
The MP  guard crossroads; scout routes of travel; move troops to and from the front line; and enforce military regulations. These activities may not have been popular for the average WWII soldier, but the US Army MP executed the duties with honor and respect.
